Starting your Business Together!
01
Have an Idea
This is the foundation of your business. It starts with:
- Identifying a problem to solve or a need to fulfill in the market.
- Coming up with a unique product or service that offers value.
- Asking questions like:
- Who would use this?
- What makes it different?
- Why would people pay for it?
This is your vision—it doesn’t need to be perfect yet, just meaningful.
02
Make a Business Plan
Turn your idea into a clear roadmap by planning:
- Business model – How will you make money?
- Target market – Who are your customers?
- Marketing strategy – How will you reach them?
- Operations – How will the business run day to day?
- Financials – How much will it cost to start and operate? What are the revenue projections?
This step helps organize your thoughts, attract investors, and guide your actions.
03
Create Business with SOS
Formally register your business with your state:
- Choose a business structure (LLC, Corporation, etc.)
- Pick a business name (make sure it’s available!)
- File the necessary documents (e.g., Articles of Organization for an LLC)
- Pay the state’s filing fee
Once approved, you are legally recognized as a business entity.
04
Get EIN with IRS
This is your business’s federal tax ID number—like a Social Security number, but for your company.
- Apply online for free at the IRS website
- Needed to:
- Open a business bank account
- Hire employees
- File business taxes
Most businesses need an EIN—even if they don’t have employees yet.
05
Open Bank Account
Keep your personal and business finances separate:
- Take your EIN, business registration, and operating agreement (if required) to the bank
- Open a business checking account
- Optional: also open a savings account or credit card
This makes your accounting cleaner, builds business credit, and adds a layer of professionalism.
06
Establish your HQ at the Rendon Entrepreneurial Center (REC)
Operate out of the Rendon Entrepreneurial Center
- Rent a suite
- Rent a office
- Rend a desk
